Iβve been eating here easily for 20 years. Hiroshi recently sold it and itβs gone off a cliff would be an understatement. Itβs always been an office building basement sushi restaraunt in Ohio, but now itβs truly gross. The food is not just not decent anymore, but dangerous. My wife had severe bacterial food poisoning and it was the last time we will go. Do yourself a favor and get a burger instead. Sad to see a longtime institution fall into such a pathetic state. I hope Hiroshi is enjoying his retirement because this place sucks now.

Delicious authentic Japanese restaurant! The menu is really wide, and the sushi, appetizers, and flavors are all great. There are a lot of subpar sushi places around, and a bunch of ramen places, but Shuhei is a legit full menu Japanese restaurant, with nabe/hotpot, zarusoba, donburi, and more besides sushi. The sake and alcohol menu is not too shabby either. Definitely recommended for anyone craving good Japanese! γγγγγ£γ!

Excellent experience despite its tucked-away location in the rear of a commercial building. The signage is small enough that you could easily miss it without GPS. βWe were a party of four and were seated immediately. The restaurant had a great vibe, and the staff was extremely friendly. βThe warm sake was a tasty accompaniment to the meal. My wife and I shared four sushi rolls and an appetizer, all of which were delicious and tasted incredibly fresh. The food was also served very timely. βThey offer a wide variety of menu options, all fairly priced. We're already looking forward to our next visit to try some of the entrees!

Shuhei is hands-down one of our favorite sushi spots in Cleveland. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you've stepped into Japan -- the staff wear beautiful kimonos, the ambiance is calm and elegant, and they even have traditional floor seating for a truly authentic experience. The sushi menu is extensive -- everything from the freshest sashimi and classic nigiri to creative specialty rolls. Every dish we've tried has been beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. You can tell the chefs take pride in both the quality and artistry of the food. It's the perfect spot for a date night, special occasion, or quiet evening out when you want something a little more refined but still welcoming. Shuhei is a Cleveland gem and a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Japanese cuisine! This is truly a hidden gem and the restaurant is in the basement of the brick office looking building. Parking is plentiful and in the back where the entrance is.

We went there with a 6:30pm reservation on Saturday. We understand that they were quite busy but service was very slow and the server was not attentive. We told her that we share everything but she brought only one tempura dipping sauce which was almost impossible for us to share so I asked her for another dipping sauce. Then another person brought it with a ball pen sticking out on top of the small dish which I found very rude. Japanese will never do that. I was born and grew up in Japan so I know Sushi and Japanese service/manners. Shrimp Tempura & Vegetables were good as shrimps were big and cooked nicely. I expected better sushiΒ as the owner chef is Japanese but they are catering for locals who do not know well. Rice was hard. Rice is very important for sushi. Omakase was a good quantityΒ but not for the quality. Unagi was nice and soft but the Spicy Scallop roll didn't taste like scallops. We may go back there for Tempura but probably not for sushi.
